About

Sharon McEntee, a contemporary jeweller and artist based in Melbourne, Australia, has been a lifelong creator, and after exploring various mediums, was drawn to metal and making jewellery. Completing a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Honours at RMIT in 2017, her honours research project explored the intricacies of the effects of urban transformation.

McEntee’s artistic trajectory has been influenced by the pressing issues of our time, notably climate change and the catastrophic bushfires that ravaged New South Wales and Victoria in 2020. These environmental crises have spurred McEntee’s commitment to sustainability, igniting a passion for crafting art that not only reflects the time we live in, but also advocates for its preservation.

With a profound connection to the sea and coastal landscapes, McEntee’s recent work ventures into the intricate interplay between humanity’s constructs and the ever-shifting essence of the ocean. Drawn to windswept shores, she explores how the remnants of human existence mingle with the delicate ecosystems of coastal regions, both shaping and being shaped by the relentless forces of nature.

McEntee’s art serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty that persists amidst the chaos of the Anthropocene. Art becomes a catalyst for change, inspiring us to reimagine our relationship with the environment and to embark on a journey towards a more sustainable world for future generations to enjoy.
